Today Aurora is FOUR MONTHS OLD!
As seems fitting, she had her 4-month checkup this afternoon, complete with four vaccines. She now measures 62 cm (49 at birth) and weighs 6 kilos (2.8 at birth). The nurse said everything looked great, except that she needs to sleep on her side for a while -- otherwise the flattish place on the back of her head will just get worse!
She seems to love it when we sing to her. Unfortunately, I don't remember the words to nearly anything.
Some I've considered (or hummed or invented words to) in the past few days include:
"Yellow Submarine"
"Yesterday"
"Edelweiss"
"Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" (Paul Simon)
"Some Days Are Better Than Others" (U2)
How about some suggestions? What song would you sing to her? What songs have your babies/nieces/nephews/brothers/sisters etc especially liked?

Hi Kate! Manu writing :)
ReplyDeleteI'd suggest any song from The Smiths, they used to sound mellow and soft and for sure she will like it! For example "I Know It's Over", although the lyrics are sad (really sad) it's very euphonic (check it here: http://www.goear.com/listen/614216c/i-know-its-over-the-smiths)
Another song I'd sing to a baby would be Jeff Buckley's cover of Cohen's Hallelujah (http://www.goear.com/listen/4af0478/hallelujah-jeff-buckley).
A ver que te parecen! Ya me contarás...
Happy four months, Aurora! I'll think more about songs, but the one that popped into my head immediately was one my brother's parrot, Pogo, used to love, and the only one she would sing: "You Are My Sunshine."
ReplyDeleteI can go and sing to her, I have a wide range of music styles and songs to choose from. :)
ReplyDeleteLilah's favorites were: you are my sunshine, itsy bitsy spider, where is thumbkin . . . I'm sure I'll think of others (I must've written them down, somewhere!). Happy 4 mos., baby A!
